Join SIM and the MISRC for what will be a very informative and insightful program presented by Dr. Karie Willyerd on April 17, 2014. Karie will be speaking about the bestselling book she co-author, The 2020 Workplace: How Innovative Companies Attract, Develop & Keep Tomorrow's Employees Today. (Harper Business May, 2010) As of July 2011, their book was the number 8 business book bestseller, according to Inc. Magazine. She is a regular blogger for Harvard Business, coauthored a feature article on Mentoring Millennials in the May, 2010 issue of Harvard Business and has authored dozens of other articles and publications.
Dr. Willyerd is the Vice President and Chief Learning Officer at Success Factors, a human capital software company owned by SAP. Prior to that she was the cofounder and CEO of Jambok, the industry's first informal social learning software platform, which was acquired by SuccessFactors in March, 2011. She was formerly Chief Learning Officer for Sun Microsystems, and in that role she was responsible for employee, customer, partner, and Sun community learning. The customer business of Sun trained over 600,000 students a year in 125 countries, certifying career professionals in the Java programming language and Solaris. During the last 24 months at Sun, Karie and her team won over 35 awards for excellence in creating an innovative learning & development function for Sun Microsystems. In October 2009, ASTD named Sun the #1 BEST learning function in the world. In February of 2010, Sun was named #11 by Training 125. In prior roles, she was a Chief Talent Officer for Solectron (now Flextronics), led the people development function at Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems and ran executive development at H.J. Heinz. Karie holds a master's degree in Instructional and Performance Technology from Boise State University and a doctorate in management from Case Western Reserve University. She serves on the global advisory council for the business school at Colorado State University, is on the advisory board of HR.com, and is on the board of an Americorp organization, City Year, San Jose.
