Description:

Item Level RFID Tagging Ready For Prime Time?

While the debate continues over whether a ROI can be achieved for case and pallet level tagging, a new, perhaps more controversial use for RFID is being considered. Recently there have been several announcements of industry partnerships being formed to develop real-time demand management solutions using item level RFID tags. This has spurred many additional debates regarding the use of the technology.

Some industry experts and observers believe a move to item level tagging greatly over reaches the technologies capabilities or feel that it is too cost prohibitive or too controversial. While others believe that item level tagging is the key to a significant ROI.

In this session, we hope to stimulate the discussion between the positions for and against item level RFID tagging. We will also look into the future and explore where item level tagging may eventually gain early traction.
