Meeting: Storage Network Users Group (SNUG)

Event Registration

Agenda

1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Networking
1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Willis Whittington, of Seagate: SATA, Enabling New Markets and Changing the Old?
2:30 – 2:45 p.m. Break
2:45 – 3:45 p.m. Gary Johnson, of Carlson Companies: Using SNIA Storage Model to solve real storage problems.
His case study has been widely referenced by Tom Clark in many books.

In his seminal book "The Innovator's Dilemma" on why outstanding companies lost market leadership in the face of disruptive technology change Clayton Christensen opens with an analysis of the disk drive industry. He chose this industry precisely because it has such a rapid rate of disruptive technology change.

Our first speaker Willis Whittington, a Seagate veteran, will present on the SATA hard drive, a latest disruptive change.

Our second speaker Gary Johnson, a Carlson Companies architect, will present an industry best-practices method for bringing change into the storage infrastructure.

The refreshments would be sponsored by John Colin of Mocha Data.
The meeting will be hosted by MIS Research Center.
